About Class Focus: Our history as classmedia

On January 1, 2007, classmedia became classføcus.

Classmedia began in 2002, producing CD-ROM Yearbook and CD-ROM Prospectus products. Our first product was a CD-ROM Yearbook for the Genazzano FCJ College Rowing Club. This was a huge production, with over 100 different sections (one for each rower, each crew, each coach and each committee member). This was done more as a conceptual project, but the result revealed to us that there was huge potential for such fun products, which prove more and more valuable to school children as they grow older.

Once the penetration of DVD players reached a high enough level, we switched production to DVD. This has allowed us to focus much more on full screen video content for our disc based products.

In 2003, we realised a pattern emerging in primary schools websites. Many had been developed in the 90s but had not had any new content added for years. This was often due to the fact that the staff member or parent who had developed the original site was no longer part of the school community or had moved to another school. Many schools no longer had the time or expertise to maintain the HTML code, which was often quite a mess, and only vaguely comprehensible to even the original developer.

Having had a working relationship with a Tasmanian company called Future Medium, we contracted them to develop a special version of their Autopublish Content Management System for schools.

The result was our Easy-To-Edit website product. Whilst this was merely a side project at first, the feedback from our client schools was so positive that we decided to place more emphasis on the product. We have added several updates to the original 1a system, and have now released a separate 1b product.

Schools have found that the simplicity of maintaining their Easy-To-Edit website, as well as the ability to delegate the task to various members of the school staff and parent community, has enabled them to keep their site up to date with minimal effort.

Thank you to all our clients who got classmedia, and now classføcus, up and running.
